Cape Verdean President 𝐉𝐨𝐬𝐞́ 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚 𝐍𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐬 has affirmed Cape Verde’s readiness to 𝐝𝐞𝐞𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐜 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐚, citing growing mutual trust and fruitful cooperation across multiple sectors. The commitment was made during a formal ceremony in Praia, where Neves received credentials from the newly appointed Chinese Ambassador, Zhang Yang.
President Neves expressed heartfelt gratitude for China’s long-standing support for Cape Verde’s economic and social development, and praised the tangible outcomes of bilateral work in recent years. He also reiterated Cape Verde’s firm support for the One-China principle, reinforcing diplomatic alignment.
Ambassador Zhang, who started his mission in Cape Verde on July 10, responded warmly, underscoring the “time-honored friendship” between the two nations. He pledged that China remains committed to advancing practical collaboration and consolidating political trust under the guidance of both countries’ leadership.
