The Chinese Embassy in Zambia hosted a reception in Lusaka last evening to mark the 76th founding anniversary of the People’s Republic of China (PRC). The event also served as a celebration of the enduring diplomatic partnership between Zambia and China.
Present at the reception were Chinese Ambassador to Zambia Han Jing, Zambian Minister of Labor and Social Security Brenda Tambatamba, senior government officials, members of the Chinese community, and representatives from both nations’ diplomatic circles.
In his address, Ambassador Han reflected on the shared history of rising from colonialism, emphasizing that Zambia and China cherish values like peace, sovereignty, dignity, and the right to development. He affirmed China’s commitment to working with all like-minded partners to promote a multipolar world based on inclusion and equality.
Ambassador Han also spotlighted Beijing’s ongoing efforts in Africa. He pledged expansion of zero-tariff access for 100% of tariff lines for all 53 African countries that maintain diplomatic relations with China. He said this move is part of broader cooperation under the outcomes of the FOCAC Beijing Summit, demonstrating China’s commitment to more equitable trade practices.
Addressing bilateral ties, Ambassador Han described China–Zambia relations as “strong and stable,” noting recent high-level exchanges and growth in practical cooperation across sectors.
Minister Tambatamba extended her congratulations to China on its 76-year journey. She called the anniversary not only a moment for celebration but also an opportunity to reflect on the deepening of win-win cooperation and the positive impact of Chinese-backed projects, including infrastructure achievements like the Tanzania–Zambia Railway line.
The reception was more than ceremonial: it was an expression of confidence in the ongoing trajectory of China–Zambia relations, rooted in shared aspirations, strategic alignment, and a vision for collective development.
