China Takes Center Stage at West Africa’s Top Agricultural Expo

The 7th Abidjan International Agriculture and Animal Resources Exhibition commenced on May 23, spotlighting China as the guest of honor. This major West African agricultural fair aims to foster collaboration and innovation in the sector.

Côte d’Ivoire’s Prime Minister, Robert Beugré Mambé, lauded China’s agricultural advancements, emphasizing its role as a “global champion of agriculture.” He highlighted the potential for Sino-Ivorian partnerships to address agricultural challenges such as crop diversification, mechanization, and climate resilience.

Representing China, Vice Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Zhang Xingwang in his speech, acknowledged Côte d’Ivoire’s status as one of the leading producers of cocoa, cashews, and natural rubber with china as a vast market and a large consumer base. He emphasized the mutual benefits of enhanced cooperation in agricultural technology, processing, and trade between the two nations.

The ten-day exhibition is expected to attract over 500,000 visitors and nearly 1,000 exhibitors from Africa, Asia, and Europe, showcasing a wide array of agricultural products and services.
