The Chinese government donated a batch of medical supplies, including surgical instruments and consumables to Agostinho Neto Hospital in Praia, Cape Verde’s capital, in a gesture aimed at strengthening local health care capacity.
Cape Verde’s Health Minister, Jorge Figueiredo, called the donation a “noble gesture” and underscored the enduring friendship between Cape Verde and China: “The friendship that unites us has always been demonstrated through concrete acts of solidarity.”
Chinese Ambassador Zhang Yang described the bilateral relationship established nearly half a century ago as “profound,” noting the long history of medical cooperation which includes sending medical teams and training local health personnel. He said the recent donation to Agostinho Neto Hospital, as well as support to the maternity ward of Baptista Sousa Hospital, reflect expanding health collaboration.
